ORIGINS:
Like the peach tree, the tree originates in China and came to Europe through Persi.

THE FRUIT:
The drupe is round and fleshy; the skin is smooth and the color varies from yellow-red to pinkish-cream.
The pulp, depending on the variety, is yellow or white with red veins more visible close to the put which can be attached to the pulp (clingstone peaches) or unattached (freestone peaches).

FLAVOR:
The fleshy and juicy fruit has a very sweet and fragrant pulp, crunchy or soft varying on the degree of ripeness. The fruit contains an average of 25 calories (with the skin) per 100 grams of weight.

HEALTH BENEFITS:
Although low in calories, they are rich in sugars and have a significant potassium content. Thirst quenching and diuretic, they contain pectin, a natural substance important for regulation of glucose and cholesterol levels in the blood.
Peaches have a good quantity of carotenoids, which the body transforms into vitamin A, important for the health of the eyes, bones and teeth, and to boost the immune system.
One single nectarine contains the 15% daily-recommended value of vitamin C for our bodies.
